Davis Theater Chicago was built in 1918 and was known as the Pershing Theater. The Pershing was transformed into a talkie theatre in the 1930s, and its name was changed to Davis Theater. Moreover, came to life in January 2016 and is now a community hub for movies and events and a historical landmark.

Davis Theater Chicago was listed for sale in October 1999 with a $1.6M asking price and the following description: “This beautiful theatre is waiting to be turned into a commercial complex.” The complex was viewed by several potential developers interested in turning it into condos, a shopping centre, or even a movie theatre with food and beverage facilities. Later that year, The Davis was finally sold to developer Jim Jaeger, who was said to be preparing to demolish and rebuild it with homes.
