Why Break Summer Vacation Traditions and Try Other Seasons

Most people associate big travel plans with summer, which, coincidentally, is the most expensive. Prices for hotels, tours, local trips, and even general services can increase significantly during this season. Of course, certain conditions, such as children’s or students’ vacations, could make this time the most suitable for family trips. However, even people free to choose their travel schedule tend to stick to summer, and this article highlights how to resist this urge and why it is better for you and your wallet to opt for a different season.

Why is summer treated as the top season for holidays?

There are plenty of reasons that summer remains the top option for vacations abroad. For one, the days are longer, giving you more time to explore. Also, most tourism agencies offer a variety of packages and travel deals for their peak season.

However, likely the biggest variable in treating summer as a preference is that other people travel more during this time, and we feel the urge to do the same. Hence, even if your planned destination offers plenty of facilities in Autumn, you might opt for summer instead because you cannot wait that long, and everyone around is booking their time off.

Additionally, since we grew accustomed to traveling during our summer vacations in school and college, the tradition continues long after.

The price differences when traveling in the summer

If you were to check any tourism site for trips in October and July in one popular hotel in the Mediterranean, the price differences will be staggering. An all-inclusive stay for 7 days can be much cheaper in October than in July. Of course, comparing season prices is not uniform everywhere, and a low season in one location might be busier in another. However, drawing on the example of hotels in the Mediterranean, summer is likely the season that attracts the most tourists.

Hence, planners who wish to book summer holidays in advance typically do so six or more months before. Then, they are likely to get a more attractive price. Given the steady rise in travel prices, people also typically budget or even try various ways to earn money.

That could include picking a few extra shifts or using a task-earning app to reach goals faster. That is when a platform like JumpTask comes in handy, since it offers a flexible way to make extra money. Besides getting paid for performing various digital tasks, you may also turn to tutoring or even creating online content on social media for the time being.

Main reasons to opt for travel during other seasons

If you can and are not obligated to travel during the summer, consider switching your travel plans to other seasons. The following reasons can help make your decision before you choose and negotiate with your travel agency:

  • Less heat and more opportunities to explore. If you’re traveling to enjoy the pool and stick to the hotel’s facilities, the travel season isn’t that crucial. However, if you plan to go on hikes, see cities, and even use public transportation a lot, summer is not your best friend. Just imagine sightseeing everything without getting sunburned or feeling flushed!
  • Fewer crowds (and different ones). Summer is likely the go-to season for young people, while older people typically choose more off-peak times. Hence, it all depends on whether you’re going for a wild adventure or prefer a more tranquil atmosphere.
  • Paying less for the trips you want. The biggest advantage of a non-summer vacation is getting better deals and prices. Since it’s less popular, agencies typically offer lower prices, meaning you can even book more vacations instead of splurging on one summer trip.
  • Less authentic experience. Sometimes, traveling during peak season means that you do not get the most genuine experience. In many cases, even quiet and beautiful places will be swarming with tourists, giving you far less of a unique feeling.

Conclusion

Take vacations whenever you feel the need, but remember that summer is not necessarily the best time to do so. Given peak prices, huge crowds, heat, and general tourist overload, it may be better to sit more calmly during the summer and see if your summer-holiday funds can go toward two wonderful trips during the off-season!
